Pathway Program's Overviewsix programs, represent three phases of housingFor admission information, an application or interview - please contact Pathway at 317-926-8557
Program placement depends on homelessness or housing status, recovery and mental health needs, and income needs. Each phase has different criteria. Phase II requires 90 days recovery and stability, 90 days consistent income, the ability to pay $400 monthly rent (flat fee) and sign a minimum 6 month lease. Phase III requires 6 months recovery and stability, 6 months consistent income and the ability to pay at least $400 rent (based on income) with one month security deposit and sign a one year lease agreement. Pathway-I is the entry level transitional housing program where most residents begin their journey into recovery. The minimum length of stay is 90 days with an average of 6 months. Participants learn basic living skills involving structure and routine and build a foundation for recovery. They take responsibility for their mental health treatment by attending appointments, participating in counselling and taking medication as directed. Most importantly, residents learn how to ask for and receive help. Once a resident becomes stable with their recovery and, mental health and become financially self-sufficient, they are eligible for Phase-II (Pathway-II for women or III for men). Applicants must be Homeless (lack of permanent safe night-time residence, have an Addiction (Drug or Alcohol problem), may or may not have a Mental Health issues (if applicable, wiling to comply with mental health treatment plan), and be willing to achieve Financial Self-Sufficiency (by securing employment or disability benefits). Phase-II gives residents the opportunity to put into practice the new behaviors learned at Pathway-I in a safe, supportive, sober environment. Women share an 8 bedroom duplex next door and Men share a 9 bedroom triplex across the street. Participants go from a dorm style structured setting, to a furnished home with private bedrooms and live as a family sharing the same life goals. Once residents are successful in phase-II, they are eligible for the final Phase of Permanent Housing in their own apartment. Phase III includes 3 apartment buildings that are safe, affordable and 100% drug and alcohol free. Residents can live in their own apartment indefinitely as long as they continue their recovery program, maintain financial independence and give back to new residents starting their journey into recovery. These sober living communities promote this positive lifestyle choice. as the residents are committed to sobriety, and are assured their neighbors value this lifestyle as much as they do. It doesn’t matter how much money they make, there are no apartments in Indianapolis that guarantee a clean and sober lifestyle. Since Pathway began over 25 years ago, over 1,414 homeless men and women suffering from addictive and mental health disorders have come through our doors, of which, 52% (736) left clean and sober, mentally stable, financially self-sufficient and permanently housed. Program graduates returning as peer support specialists help the new man and woman coming off the streets, creating a perpetual giving cycle, decreasing relapse and building a sense of community. But that’s not all – Pathway’s programs were created by transforming vacant, dilapidated properties, into safe, affordable, substance-free housing - improving lives and communities! |
